Discussion about BIM or IFC Lightweight

Recently, I often hear the research ideas of "BIM or IFC lightweight".
But most scholars just give some old topics, such as reducing the number of triangular faces in the Revit model or deleting duplicate information due to poor mapping.
How should we think about lightweight issues in terms of data structure?

On vimeo a explanation of the future of ifc can be found. Explanation of the 'roadmap'. Told by Leon van Berlo. I think after hearong this you will understand better what plans they have on reducing core capabilities.

  • ISO 19650 causes more data/information than before, so this caused some think about obstacles ahead and one of them is the size of data
IFC is an Object-Oriented approach, and has designed for desktop applications, not web applications, however, bSI hope through APIs be able to solve probable obstacles
I think Model-Based/Data-Driven approach is much better than the Object-Oriented approach and constantly mentioned this, however, it needs bSI changes IFC structure
