BlenderBIM: Creating a new IfcProject and importing an IfcProjectLibrary

edited May 2022 in General

I have two questions:
Question 1:

Is it possible when creating a new IfcProject, the Project, Site and BuildingName could be already entered in a field? Instead of renaming it in the scene collection, or has it deliberately be designed this way for reasons I'm unaware off?

Question 2:
How can you save/make your own demo library and import on Project setup?

  • Hi @Coen , about n.2 question, i saw in the code that "blank project" is added by default (and basically doesn't add nothing) while "IFC4 Demo Library" is the name of an .ifc file saved in "/scripts/addons/blenderbim/bim/data/libraries/".
In this .ifc file, there are the type definitions that show up in the authoring panel.
So if you want to define a custom library, i think that you can create an .ifc file with the type definitions you want and save the file in that folder.
    I hope this can help.

Wow, I never knew this! This is such amazing functionality... Can't think of proprietarty software which is able to do this.
