Timelining the "diff" of versions of a design model

Hello,

A challenge I come across often is to go through the history of what happened to a model (think large Revit models spanning several years).

Ideally, what I would like to accomplish: drop 20 versions of the same model (v1, v2, v3, v4, etc) into an app and using a simple slider, quickly jump through time to see how the model changed. Essentially, the result would resemble a 4D simulation, but instead of it being linked to construction phases the timeline are model versions.

Currently, I could drop all the versions into one federated model and turn them on and off but this doesn't show me the "diff" between each version.

Any workflows out there that you have seen which may resemble this? If not, any hints as to how ifc-diff or BlenderBIM could be used to accomplish this?

Thanks,

V
