Hello,
Is a wall added on Cursor position on its interior or exterior alignment? Also I'm not sure how to use Align Exterior/ Centerline / Interior, it doesn't seem to change the position of the wall from the axis

    AFAIK these commands are to be used to align another object to the active object. eg you create a new object, SHIFT + select your wall and click on one of the "Align" command to both rotate the new object correctly and place it on the right axis. Actually it can be used with multiple objects. If that's the case I think these buttons should be grayed out if only one object is selected ? Judging by what happens when you "Align Interior" on a wall I would say the origin is on the interior side, but I'm really not sure.

    Ok I was misunderstanding the command, I was thinking it would flip the wall from its axis

    Hello,

    to the best of my knowledge the cursor defines where the wall origin is to be placed, the wall thickness is extruded along the positive Y axis depending on its LayerThickness

    the align commands do what @Gorgious indicated above working in conjunction with other walls, the flipping part is performed by shift+F

    Shift + F flips the wall.
    I actually think the Align Exterior, Align Centerline, Align Interior commands are not quite working they way they used to.
    That is, I think i remember them actually aligning to the exterior, centerline, or interior of the wall. Right now, i seems they only align to the center.

    I tried (they work) but in a more simple situation where walls are oriented similar to the one used to align the others
    tbh I never used alignments, only sometime the flip :)

    Thank you all, but I'm still missing something:
    Is there any data stored in the IFC indicating that the origin of the wall is its interior or exterior? If not, is there a convention to say it's one or the other?
    In particular, I'd like to understand whether the window parameters are offset in relation to the inside or outside.

    the installation of the window takes into consideration the wall line set on its origin, so I'd guess that is considered as 'external' face of the wall
    but it's my guess mind you

    I'm an idiot, i guess it does work as intended... I just changed the wall thicknesses to show it better.
    From the video you can tell which side is interior and which side is exterior.

    IFC does not enforce whether one side is "interior" or "exterior". We just follow a convention :)
