Units for Quantities
very much a newbie to this group and discussions,
however can someone direct me to how I might resolve in Bonsai, when I perform a Quantity Take-off (IFC4 Base Quantities - Blender) on all objects selected in an IFC file, save the IFC, when I extract the quantities (IfcOpenShell, Python to excel table) I get a mixture of units i.e. IfcDoor Qto_Width, Qto_Height etc. are in metres, while IfcWall QtoWidth, Qto_Height etc are in millimeters.
Very frustrating!
It seems like a 'box of chocolates' from one designer model to the next. Is there a convention I should be aware of ? As the quantities are being re-calculated by Bonsai, should these not consistently obey the settings in Geometry/Units? Or is this just a result of the designer, entering the wrong numbers? e.g. 20mm instead of 0.02m?

@KBee
do you see the same output in Bonsai's Qto panel?
Hi, yeah, in Bonsai I see after Performing the Quantity Take-off (IFC4 Base Quantities - Blender) the number is obviously in mm or m in the Occurrence Quantities panel when say clicking on a door (IfcDoor) Qto_DoorBaseQuantities is 2.39 (assumed m meters) Height and a wall (IfcWall) Qto_WallBaseQuantities is 6867.19 (assumed mm in) Height. Geometry > Units are set to METRE, SQUARE_METRE, CUBIC_METRE prior to running the Quantity Take-off. Is this not confusing when just the values are provided, should the units be clarified with the values?
@KBee
yes it sounds like it is a bit confusing
can you share the file?
Ough, sorry, that I can't do. Any ideas on what I could explore in Bonsai to check settings etc?
Ok, not sure what you are after here
as you wrote above your length units are set in meter but you have some problem with quantity take off reporting mm
can you create a new model in Bonsai and check if that problem is still there?
if not it might be the original model, as far as I know units are set depending on the scope (building, infraworks, mechanic, etc)
Bonsai's settings are here
