Opensource Robotic Workflow?
Hello,
I am new to this area.
- I would like to design a log cabin and cut the logs on an Industrial ABB robot. I have access to the robot on an occasional basis.
- I would like to design in FreeCAD/Blender and then based on the tools available in the shop (milling bits, saws etc) design a toolpath. What would be the typical workflow? FreeCAD -->> ?? -->> Tool path Generation software -->> G-Code -->> ABB rapid code?
- I've also heard about PyCAM - where would this fit into the workflow?
- The client would be happy to use open-source components, but machine time optimization is important since robot access is limited. What solutions would provide the best balance between open-source accessibility and efficient machining?
Is there another forum focused on manufacturing? Or is this an appropriate forum?
Thank you,
Gaurav

Freecad should be enough, depending on the g-code dialect you need:

Compas is an open-source framework with libraries for fabrication. But I haven't tested myself
