Copy and Paste from one IfcProject to the other

Hi, what is the appropriate workflow to copy an element from one IfcProject to the other.
I once saw a short video by @theoryshaw demonstrating how to copy an element from one ifc file to the other.
I have not been able to find an easy way to copy and paste ifc elements between different project but I hope there must be a more streamlined approach.

  • If you need to copy type/material/profile you can add second file as a library and append the elements:

but I wonder how to copy/paste Ifc elements (instances, not their type) from one project to another, if there is a way

Noted @Andrej730 but I don’t need it through the Project Library but a conventional copy and paste of instances just as @steverugi clarified it. A real-time interface approach. If I remember was it something like “Append” and the GUID that were used?

  • I don't think copy and paste is supported now, even copy and paste in the same BBIM session will make pasted element unlinked from IFC for safety.

Added a new option to append elements from the library - https://imgur.com/a/yASjbs8 that should help. It probably will be moved elsewhere later on to allow adding occurrences in more visual way and less confusing for occurrences sharing the same names.

I've added similar option for appending elements from linked IFC files - https://imgur.com/a/phPcKSo. It should be much more versatile and currently will be the main way for appending occurrences.
