How to fix / reassign a model element classification in BlenderBIM
Hi all,
I regularly get IFC models (2x3 & 4) with too many model elements assigned to IfcBuildingElementProxy.
I am fairly new to BlenderBIM and exploring it's abilities & application in our workflow.
Is it possible or how do you fix / reassign a model element classification in BlenderBIM from "Proxy" to the correct IFC Class ie. an actual IfcWall / IfcSlab, etc when the IFC export was not done correct / perfect?
I have been reading, watching & searching, but find no particular answer on that. Can anyone perhaps help me out on this question?

Hi @fusionBIM viewing this video would be very good start...
Thanks @Nigel, I did not see this video by Petru @condur just the day before I posted my question.
I saw in the video, Petru first removed the "Type" assignment before changing the "Class". This made sense now why my models was crashing Blender changing just the Class in some cases. This made me look deeper and saw that with this test model, the Element Types were also listed under IfcBuildingElementProxyType (it's not just the Element that is a IfcBuildingElementProxy).
Putting all this together I'm keen to test what happens to the Elements when I just change the Types... will the multiple elements linked to a Type be updated at the same time?... I'm curious to see the outcome when I have more time for a proper test.
Hi @fusionBIM
I was curious to know what happens to a IfcBuildingElementProxy type and I tried myself, it looks like you can just select the proxytype and change its new class type (make sure you pick a class type, not an element), the answer is YES the instances change accordingly
please advise
