MEP cleanup
Anyone with experience in cleaning up MEP file?
Given a piping(plumbing) file. Most elements are defined as types. Their geometry is bloated (huge faceCount).
If cleaning up the geometry in the type definition, will this be updated in the instances?
Any suggestions much appreciated

It's a bit hard to say without seeing the model. Pipes and ducts are most efficiently represented as circular and rectangular extrusions - can you confirm that they are actually breps or tessellations?

Maybe not really answering Your q, but think w MagiCAD and 2x3 export, it would be meshes, not extrusions ?
example typical ifcFlowSegment (pipe) looks like this
ifcFlowFitting...
generally, yes.
@CadGiru I've made a script for a client to clean up IFC2x3 MEP exports from AX3000, for geometry as well as class and properties with ifcopenshell.
@Arv
Could U expand, AX3000?
@CadGiru https://ax3000-group.de/en/ has MEP plugins to be created for use with various bim software. This also exports to IFC2x3 and IFC4.
@Arv thx, Was thinking of cleaning up ifc MEP files created in MagiCAD or other, with BonsaiBim
