Whats the situation with visualising different layers in model when creating a composite wall in BB?

I read that it had been funded, but trying it out in 0.8.2 it seems to just change the whole wall to first materials style instead of visualising each layer. So I was wondering, is it still WIP or am I just doing something wrong?

I am not an expert here but I think you need to have style> material > layer assigned to show the difference

Weird, I did that previously just like you have done. It just visualised the whole shell with first layers visual style, so it was for example gray the whole structure. I wonder, if there is a bug where you create a wall and create materials, then set the layers, then add visual styles of each material and then draw a wall that caused it not to create the wall like it should have. I just tested it by launching clean project, created styles first, then materials and set the styles, and then created wall type and set each layer and it came out correctly.

I did as you wrote, first walls (no layer/material/style assigned) and set everything after, the outcome is the same as you can see

I personally find more 'best-practice' preparing layers/materials/styles - using the type - before modeling the actual objects. Changing the material layerset after could generate unexpected results with the origin's offset.

Last, please make sure you have numbers next to style and materials (green lines) to check if properly assigned, you might need to close and open the panel to show them.
