BuildingSmart IFC icon as ico

On my previous laptop I had a nice icon for my IFC files in Explorer. I think I installed something that had the icon as an embedded ico - but I can't remember what it was.
Anyone know any good ones? I know I could make one, but my gimp skills are sorely lacking.

  • Look in the repository for Bonsai:
    src/bonsai/bonsai/libs/desktop/*
There's an icon defined in there. This gets set up on Linux automagically I think, as I don't recall doing manual steps to get my ifc files to use this icon. Unfortunately the Windows icon is "To Do", but this at least gives you the image.

  • Thanks @sjb007 - I converted direct to an ico from that - and it looks alright. I think I have to learn how to use gimp properly :')

  • Ha! I always found Gimp a bit clunky. Krita is another free OS bitmap editor that is more "artistic" maybe than Gimp.
I think you might be better off learning Inkscape though. Most icons are designed with vector art now, and rendered as bitmaps at various sizes.

  • you could just go the full Bonsai
