Python Automation for buildingSMART Workflows (Looking for Feedback)
Hi everyone,
I'm a developer diving into the intersection of Python and buildingSMART standards. I am working on a new project to automate BIM workflows, specifically exploring concepts like modeling enclosed thatched-roof structures (like cabanas/paillotes with integrated doors and windows) using open-source Python tools.
The project is still in its very infancy and highly experimental, but my goal is to build something that aligns tightly with open BIM standards.
I’m reaching out to the community to share my intentions early on and gather some initial feedback.
- Are there existing Python libraries or OSArch sub-projects handling this type of micro-architecture automation that I should look into?
- What are the common pitfalls I should avoid when trying to script IFC generation for custom architectural elements from scratch?
I would love to hear your thoughts, ideas, or suggestions on where to focus first!
Thanks,
