Blender: snapping w/ collection instances

  • I recently came across a similar situation (and was just as surprised). A quick dirty solution I came up with was to do the following:
    Even though the instanced collection (IC) itself won't snap to other geometry, the other geometry can be snap to the vertices of the IC, i.e. if you model, say, a simple flat object that follows the perimeter of the IC, you can then move both these objects (or parent the IC to the flat geometry and then move that geometry). I'm not sure if I have managed to explain this properly but I could get on a Video call to try and explain it a bit better.
