Pointcloud vs. BlenderBIM clipping planes
Hi,
Is it possible to use BlenderBIM clipping planes on pointclouds? I have a survey cloud (.e57) that I imported with the Point Cloud Visualiser add-on, and it doesn't affect it.
Example:
I work quite a lot with historic buildings where existing states are surveyed with laser scanners to get accurate point clouds, which are handed over in .E57 format (Archicad is the BIM authoring tool used, it cannot read PLY files - hence my use of the PCV add-on).
Did anyone encounter this use case before, is there a solution to this, or should this be a feature request?
(I couldn't find related posts on the forum.)
Thanks!

In PCV i usually use a box to clip point Clouds, i find it really intuitive. In addidion you can define a drawing view in blenderbim, and that Will clip the point cloud together with the IFC objects.
Go into the Point cloud settings in the N panel, expand Display > Clip. Enable Clip. In the Object field, select the clipping plane object, check Clip Planes Live Update. Then you need to uncheck all but one of the planes, because by default the clipping utility in PCV uses a bounding box, here you only have one clipping plane. This should work :
I don't think you can use this method with multiple clipping planes, but I think one big improvement to the clipping planes feature in the BlenderBIM addon would be using a bounding box object similarly to PCV.
