Static Energy Model inside Bonsai
Hi Osarch community. I've been developing a static energy modelling tool for a regulator of architects in Canada for about 5yrs now. It started as a simple BERS/HERS (Building Energy Rating System), which just took total energy from utility bills and divided that by conditioned area (Energy/Area = TEUI or Total Energy Use Intensity). But then Architects started asking us to parse TEDI out of TEUI, and it turns out that is very difficult to answer, but I think we've done it with a super lightweight tool that is really good in Schematic Design but also for post-occupancy review and as a building codes compliance check (esp. in jurisdictions where embodied carbon and B^ operational emissions are considered in a Lifetime Carbon Metric - like Denmark). Here is the project resource page: https://openbuilding.ca/oaa/ - link to the xlsx version of the tool is from a button lower down on that page. Free to use and open-source (share-alike, no derivs). We are right now mapping export from ArchiCad models so completing the 'FACTS' sheet of the tool is pretty much automated. We'd like to do the same in Bonsai. I'd appreciate any help from the community in doing so as I'm just learning Bonsai now myself. Thanks in advance!

This is both what the UI of the tool and the printout looks like - it started off aiming to look like a nutrition facts label, but buildings are more complex than granola bars so, it got a bit long.
The key bits of it are, building geometry definitions (which we hope to use Topologic to autocomplete), and RSI/U-Values, which we apply against a gains/losses model based on local climate data (HDD/CDD) to get an aggregate U-value and general losses/gains based on usage, occupancy, etc. And then this gets confirmed with real world utility bills just like the German 'Energiebedarf' and 'Energieverbrauch' passport-type reports.
I just added your link to our open source apps list.

Thanks, please be sure to add openbuilding.ca/oaa to be able to access the much more advanced TEUI3 tool (spreadsheet). This will eventually be a web app and something we bring inside Bonsai also.
