Bonsai: Changing Demo Template from Metric to Imperial (SOLVED)
Update: Yes, that's basically how to do it. Just go back to the modeling tab at the top in Blender, click on the Project Overview tab (clover icon).
Step 1. Click on the Project Overview drop down.
Step 2. Click on Blender Properties.
Step 3. In the Scene tab under Blender Properties, click Units.
Step 4. Change the Units to either Metric or Imperial.
In my case, Imperial.
Hope this helps anyone else.
I cannot figure out how to change my units in the BIM tab in Blender.
Are the units changed back in the modeling tab, under the properties panel, or is the BIM tab totally separate from other tabs?
I would like to change from metric to imperial. So far BIM seems to have a lot of information but minimal functionality. I cannot even make a wall yet. Totally confused.

Unfortunately there's not an easy way to convert a project to one unit to another.

It can be done, however, via this patch interface...

For learning Bonsai, have you checked out https://www.youtube.com/@IfcArchitect/videos?

I'm also doing a full tutorial series as well, that will be launched soon....

1. Have you tried the method by going back to the Modeling tab and switching it back in the steps above?
I saw in the Viewport that the grid changes from Metric to Imperial.
2. I started on your video in the beginning in the video:
I got stuck in certain parts of the video; which later were explained when you measured a WAL300 is 300 mm from edge to edge.
This is all fine if you are using Metric.
If not, it's really not helpful. I would rename your project to "Metric: Bonsai Tutorial - Beginner Project - Part 1 - Modeling".
3. In BIM (Building Information Modeling), is information the first priority, or is just making the building?
It appears really information heavy just to setup a wall.
Why can't "information" be secondary, or add it at the end of the modeling process? It just appears there is a lot of setup for a wall, when I'm not interested in the type of wall, with the minute details; I just want to use the tool to make the wall.
4. Is this the different between Blender Original and Blender BIM?
Because it is BIM as in Building Information Modelling. The whole point of BIM and IFC is the information.
