Do people typically understand what TGN is when you explain it to them?

Yes. I find that they do understand. I’ve gotten better at it though lately. And there has been a big increase the last few months in interest in TGN from software companies/developers and users of modeling software. I am now making a new 5 minute video describing TGN and the larger AFR concept. And the best news is that some people at one of the European transportation agencies have offered some development funding, and offered to host a webinar at the end of February to which we will invite developers, software companies, standards organizations, and user firms and individuals to hear presentations on why (this European transport agency) wants/needs TGN and how they would use it in the various modeling apps they use. We’re working on invitations and presentations now. The invitations will go out in a week or so.

I’m optimistic this will be effective because I now have clearly communicated interest from 6 commercial software firms in development of TGN for use in their apps. I think the snowball will be visible this winter and will start rolling in spring/summer.

I’ve also cleaned up my website and blog. That helps:

I have you on my invitation list for the February webinar but not sure I have the best contact info for you. By the way I live near Copenhagen, over the bridge. It would be great to meet in person, any time.

      From my home page https://tangerinefocus.com/
TGN: AFR’s Standardized Open Source Core Features
      1. Admin Features of TGN rigs
      2. TGN rig volume/scope box
      3. Cinematic camera rigging, built-in (resolving to parallel projection at center)
      4. Rig UI
      5. Filter Pegs
      6. Style Pegs
      7. Facility for extra graphics
      8. Rig sharing – TGN rigs are portable from one modeling app to another
Here are links to the AFR/TGN specification. AFR is the broader unlimited concept. TGN is AFR’s minimum standardizable core feature set. And discussion of TGN’s features written for developers and users alike: https://tangerinefocus.com/2022/10/17/afr-tgn-proposed-development/

Leading a horse to water, is a metaphor for TGN. Within a model you want to bring someone somewhere and show them something.

      Come here. Look at this

I want to bring you to something you need, thats good for you

TGN can help refocus people on clear and useful communication

Sure there’s saved views, and BCF. But these are not scratching the surface, theyre not adequate, not a serious attempt that rises to the meet the requirement for this essential function
