2. Extract the data using pandas, make it software-agnostic, so the tabular data extraction could be used for FreeCAD as well one day, or any other BIM tool using ifcopenshell.

Not sure this is a freecad or BB thing, but thought i'd log here, nonetheless.

@JQL it is basically the same problem that freecad developers call 'the topological naming problem'.

In the future, you could "talk" with FreeCAD... FreeCAD could be your teacher...

Do you know if similar work/Product exists outside of revit and other proprietary softwares ? (Veras roadmap include sketchUp and Rhino). A solution based on opensource viewers like ifc.js or freecad

my rpms of blenderbim and topologic use the system python. freecad downloads come with their own python interpreter (like blender), surely?

@paullee topologicpy works perfectly well in FreeCAD 0.20 on Windows. Here is what I did to make it work:
