GlobalID Attribute missing

I'm figuring out a workflow that will allow me to scan a building, create an IFC model from it and then run clash detection with the BIM model to show what objects have been installed , but when I select the clash results I can an error that an entity instance has no GlobalID attribute.
I've searched for the entity type but couldn't find it, I've had the work flow working on simple mock up BIM models and I'm currently working with a real world scan and build.
I've written down all the steps I take if anyone doesn't know the solution of the top of there heads.
