Howto use IFC4 georeferencing and Sun Position Blender add-on?

Hello!

On https://docs.blenderbim.org/users/other_addons.html I found the text "Sun Position - will allow you to set the correct location of the sun and true north. Integrates with IFC4 georeferencing features in the BlenderBIM Add-on.".

Is there a description of how this integration should work and what kind of georeferencing is required? I used [https://standards.buildingsmart.org/IFC/RELEASE/IFC4/ADD2_TC1/HTML/link/ifccoordinatereferencesystem.htm] and https://standards.buildingsmart.org/IFC/RELEASE/IFC4/ADD2_TC1/HTML/link/ifcmapconversion.htm. It gives the position and rotation of the model. This data does not seem to be used to calculate the position of the sun.

  • It's a bit of a hidden feature, but if you enable the Sun Position add-on, then if you go to the Georeferencing panel and click "Edit", there will be extra buttons to set the IFC north based on your settings in the sun position, or vice versa, i.e. to set the Blender sun position north based on the IFC georeferencing setting.

This works for both grid north and true north. Note that for the sun, you should be using true north.
