Thanks for sharing! Do you know how this financial model compares to Ondsel? Are they both the same concept (based on open source but pay for upgrades)? Im curious why the developer didnt just apply for an a recurring FPA grant and rely on centralised FPA based fundraising?

I think is a less ambitious model than Ondsel. It does not involve services. It is only a different flavor of FreeCAD. I would say this initiative and the Ondsel are the first examples of an early stage of startups that will offer technical support and custom solutions based on FreeCAD core. The main question is, is there a market of companies using FreeCAD and in need of professional support? Just recently, Blender has been introduced in big studios, where custom support is required. No sure if FreeCAD is present in many big companies, yet.
