I wondering too, if the 'color by property' could be 'on' all the time, that is even when you create a new object, that it automatically takes on the colour scheme. Just trying to avoid having to apply the bim.colour_by_propertyoperator manually again.
I think it would be pretty straightforward to add a callback on object creation to respect the current color scheme.
I wouldn't personally like having it on all the time, but as long as it can be turned off in the preferences I think it would be a nice addition. Come to think of it I would dig having an option to color ifc clases by property + a little bit of randomization so that objexts from within the same property are visually distinct from each other. I have "Random" colors enabled by default FWIW. Helps immensely in parsing different elements.
