Are you situated in Berlin and in need of a geospatial specialist / developer?

edited October 2021 in General

Hi all,
This might be a long shot, but I'll try anyway. In the new year I'll be moving countries from Slovenia (Ljubljana) to Germany (Berlin). I will leave my current job as BIM/GIS researcher at the national Slovene civil engineering institute. I haven't found a job yet in Berlin, so I decided to give it a try on the OSArch forum. You guys probably have a similar mindset as I do, so I think it's worth a shot!

My main background is Geomatics, but my last job was very broadly oriented and I mainly worked in teams on totally different things: I worked with IFC mainly for heritage BIM models - we used BlenderBIM + IfcOpenShell to construct the model. In another project I worked on the GIS analysis for vulnerability assessment of embankments and bridges exposed to flooding hazards. In my latest project we are in the process of developing an (open-source) blender plug-in for capturing point clouds with stereo SLAM (see ZAGsi/BlenderSLAM).

What holds everything together for me is (1) I spend my days mostly programming in python (2) I enjoy data processing & analysis, and (3) I love working with spatial information. If you are in need of someone like me, or you know somebody that is, let me know!

German is not my mother language, doch ist Deutsch relativ einfach für ein Niederländer. For my complete CV see laurensjn.github.io.

  • Maybe make a post on LinkedIn, Twitter etc we can help push?

  • Sorry for the terribly late reply @duncan. Right after I posted this, we decided to stay in Slovenia for a few more months due to some circumstances, so I didn't post anything anymore. But anyway that's a good idea and I will do that definitely in due course.
