A minor note that if you enable developer settings in Blender, you can also enable viewing indexes in the Viewport Overlays dialog on the top right settings of the viewport.
Nice! Note visualizing indices in the viewport using the overlays only works in edit mode so you can't use it for geometry nodes meshes and you need to enable "developer extras" in the preferences to see the option.
