I have enabled the plugin Profile Extender which adds some optional fields to the user profile pages on the forum.
The mainstream social media (and GitHub) fields automatically converts username to URL (e.g. tetov => https://github.com/tetov). See my profile for an example.
@tetov these ones we can add to the first post of each discussion:
They're generated for those with access just by typing, but I can't see a list of all available tags. It has some autocomplete but that's not an ideal solution.
@tetov (please tag me so I see posts) I want to see all tags, not just the most popular ones. I also want to be able to clikc on a tag and see a list of pages, just like I do if I click a tag at the bottom of an existing post.
@duncan: As an administrator on the forum you have access to Tagging under settings where you can see all tags, rename and remove them as well as seeing how often they have been used.
We could also add the plugin All tags which adds a widget showing all created tags.
@tetov right, I hadn't thought to check those settings. They're good for doing a clear up.
I feel like all users should be able to navigate from a tag list like that, I think that's what the All Tags widget does? If that's what the widget does and the it might be worth a try. I think it's just a no-brainer that a casual visitor should be able to browse all articles tagged "freecad" or whatever. I 'd love to see that working in the forum.
@duncan I've added the plugin. It is integrated into the "Discussion filters" just below the "New discussion" button. I would prefer to replace the popular tag widget with the all plugins output, I'll look into adding a panel widget to the alltags plugin..
The favicon for the discussion page is not showing, but it works fine in an individual discussion page. I've tested in multiple browsers.
Tiny detail, but since I noticed it is all I see :)
It adds that header image to the top of the https://community.osarch.org/discussions page.
When i turn this pocket off, that's when the favicon comes back.
Not sure why it's doing this.
Would be cool to install a plugin like the following to our Vanilla Forum. https://open.vanillaforums.com/addon/feeddiscussions-plugin
Would allow pushing RSS feeds from our Wiki, into a discussion thread.
Would create awareness of the wiki, and the changes being made there.
It looks like vanilla forums supports MP4's. https://success.vanillaforums.com/kb/articles/57-upload-files#supported-file-types
Would be nice to enable this on our forum.
Would allow the videos to have a little more longevity, as opposed to relying on outside, 3rd party, links like dropbox, or the like, to link to video tutorials.
Thanks for reporting to the relevant place @theoryshaw . If it helps I'll try to describe my findings as best I can.
It seems that if someone post a new comment while you are editing a post of your own on that same thread, the forum seems to lose track about what is being edited and breaks the reference to the ID of the post being edited, causing it to be deleted instead of saved. There is a brief popup message at the bottom of the page stating something like "error post mismatch" (I only got a glimpse of it the second time) and this apparently removes both the original post and the edited message from the thread, only to be restored again several hours later.
Theoryshaw (I think) was kind enough to remove the quadruplicates from the mentioned thread.
I got the impression this is caused by someone posting while someone else is editing because both times it happened I noticed later there was a new post after I refreshed the page.

Awesome! I've updated my profile too!
@tetov @Moult we have these tags but I can't see anywhere a directory of them to do some tidying up. Any ideas?
What tags? :)

Click show popular tags. :)

Perhaps consolidate down to 1 tag?

Go for it :) The former is preferred.
perhaps for an admin user to do.
@theoryshaw done :)
You read my mind. Now we have a chance to do some cleaning up
When you delete something, press then x. otherwise it d. work.

I think it's related to vanilla's pocket functionality--which allows you to inject snippets of html into the forum.
I added this pocket awhile ago.
It adds that header image to the top of the https://community.osarch.org/discussions page.

When i turn this pocket off, that's when the favicon comes back.
Not sure why it's doing this.
Fixed it! https://open.vanillaforums.com/discussion/comment/221788/#Comment_221788
some obscure solution from 2014. ha.
It might be just me, but I've noticed the forum doesn't push email notifications anymore.
@theoryshaw I got one this morning

You can embed it now :)
https://community.osarch.org/uploads/editor/u5/8e8jjls5foet.mp4
This is awesome, of course!
Is there any quick way to embed? or do you have to copy and paste the following blurb, and then replace the video's url?
For now, yes, manual editing :(
just an FYI, there's been some odd behavior recently with the forum.
@Owura_qu @duarteframos and myself have experienced forum posts being deleted after post-editing them.
...and they have, at times, re-appeared after a few days.

@Moult would it be possible to put a 'Donate' link on our forum?

If you're too busy, i could probably do it. Just need permissions.
