Eventhough I like BimWorks, I think it is too similar to https://bim.works/
I support IfcOpenStudio
I would not choose a name that contains BIM. (As already discussed in this thread)
OpenStudio is a registered trademark, if they chose to defend this against IfcOpenStudio then they would probably win - ie. this name is a problem unless we can be sure there is no objection.
+1 for IfcOpenStudio... also it could be IfcAECStudio (or only AECStudio) if there are problems with OpenStudio.
Actually i like also BIM AddOn or BBim AddOn because it needs less work to do and enhance that it is a (blender) add on...

OpenStudio is a FOSS project for building energy simulation:
I like IfcOpenStudio.
I also think there needs to be some consideration for how infrastructure fits in. I know there isn't any infrastructure UI and authoring features yet, but will they be part of the same UI? Will the UI play nicely with the building UI? I don't have answers.
If there is a chance that buildings and infra need different spaces for logical UIs, the I can see the entire enterprise evolving into something like:
IfcOpenShell
common python + UI
building related python + UI
infrastructure related python + UI
Then perhaps the Blender add-in becomes two or more.
Maybe IfcOpen____Studio is a good base name and it is customized by domain by "filling in the blank":
IfcOpenBuildingStudio (IfcOpenArchitectureStudio??)
IfcOpenRoadStudio
IfcOpenBridgeStudio
IfcOpenTunnelStudio
IfcOpenRailStudio
.... and keep filling in the blank as the open source nerds take over the world
Actually maybe just IfcOpenShell Add-On ? It clarifies that it is a (blender) add-on based on IfcOpenShell library and it doesn't need so much rebranding i guess...
OASIS. Which would stand for "Open-source Architectural Software and Information System" .
Edit: nevermind I don't think the domain is available. My apologies.

The potential issue with this is that it mixes the dev world and the user world. Users don't want to find C++ compilation instructions on the homepage :) What would the domain be?

IfcOpenPlatform 😅 if IfcOpenStudio isn't viable
To me that sounds a bit similar to ThatOpenPlatform.
IfcOpenSuite sounds good but it's really a shame IfcOpenStudio isn't possible because that really connotes what it does well.
IfcWorkshop Add-on for Blender. I like the way that sounds. It could be morphed for similar add-on names if the need ever arises.
IfcBridgeWorkshop
IfcRoadWorkshop
IfcTunnelWorkshop
Though I do like having “open” somewhere in the name. There are products in the IFC space with “open” in their name that are anything but open.
Maybe it's just me but I find "IfcBIM" a bit weird. IFC is just an ISO standard of BIM data, so it's like saying the same thing twice.
@JoostGevaert merging is an option, though I think it'd be good to still have a distinct name for it (perhaps using the Ifc prefix to keep it within the umbrella of tools). That way the developer audience and user audience can be addressed separately.

BimWerx
IfcBuildStudio
I thought that IfcBIM Add-on would be a good choice to take over the name of BlenderBIM Add-on, but IfcOpenStudio is also good.
@BenSmith @brunopostle and @MaxV please update your votes to IfcOpenStudio IfcStudio will not work, because there is already a tool called like that.
IfcOpenStudio sounds good to me :)
+1 to IfcOpenStudio
Yep agree IfcOpenStudio for me
OpenStudio is a registered trademark, if they chose to defend this against IfcOpenStudio then they would probably win - ie. this name is a problem unless we can be sure there is no objection.
BlenderBIM was awesome, but IfcOpenStudio is really clever

If OpenStudio is not possible we can try IfcOpenSuite?
IfcOpenPlatform 😅 if IfcOpenStudio isn't viable
IfcOpenSuite rocks!
OpenStudio is a FOSS project for building energy simulation:
It would be very confusing to use a very similar name from the same industry, aside the possible trademark violation.
Other name options which are similar to existing things in the AECO world:
BIMForge, IfcForge:
The old name of Autodesk Platform Services was Forge, a lot of people still call it that way:
IfcWorks, BimWorks:
Nemetchek have 2 *Works software, VectorWorks and BraceWorks, I would expect IfcWorks is related to them:
I vote for the simple BIM, or maybe IfcOpenSuite, IfcSuite or IfcOpenShell . The last one is already a known brand in a way.
I like IfcOpenStudio.

BBim (but bbim .org is already used for a b&b located in missouri)
IfcOpenStudio (or IfcStudio) if not BBim

I really like the ifcOpen... trademark.
So +1 for icOpenSuite
BIMOpenTool
The domain is available

BetterBIM sounds like BBIM
miss the open..

Any thoughts on IfcLab? IfcWorkshop?

How about IFC BIM Studio or just IFC BIM, I mean it basically summarize everything Blender BIM stands for
I like the idea of merging the IfcOpenShell and BlenderBIM projects.
Had to laugh at "IFC Opens Hell" btw 🤣
"BIMStudio" as a name (without the Ifc prefix) seems to be widely used https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=bimstudio&ia=web
Maybe it's just me but I find "IfcBIM" a bit weird. IFC is just an ISO standard of BIM data, so it's like saying the same thing twice.

Fork blender :/
@Moult, yes, totally agree.
Sad for IfcOpenStudio. IfcOpenWorkspace would fit what it is inside Blender. IfcOpenLab is cool too and shorter.
