Regular development on IfcSverchok

edited July 2021 in General

@kaiaurelienzh has helped volunteer some time on IfcSverchok, and we have been meeting weekly sometime around Sunday for a couple weeks now. I propose that @kaiaurelienzh take the lead on IfcSverchok :)

Just a heads up for anybody related in Sverchok that we'll be around weekly on Sunday in the OSArch chat to focus on this topic!

To date, we have been focusing on porting the IfcOpenShell API to nodes. This is a much higher-level interface than the current ultra-low-level nodes available in IfcSverchok. These nodes are auto generated, through type hints and docstrings. What this means is that @kaiaurelienzh will help out in documenting the IfcOpenShell API, and in the process of getting documentation, we will also get free nodes!

Once these API nodes are in place, it is expected that we will need yet another higher level set of nodes for common visual node tasks. We don't quite know what they are yet, but we'll find out when we play around!

So far, we have a new API Node, which is implemented for the "project.create_file" usecase. Not much, but its a start! It comes with tooltips, defaults, and auto generated input sockets.

Here's a pic for the visual:
