Hello. I'm another Brazilian architect here.
I used Blender for a long time for Archviz, but I currently work with industrial architecture and have been using Bonsai to complement the limitations of Revit LT.
I hope that soon I can retire 90% of Autodesk from my life. :)
I'm here to help everyone and I hope to have your help too.
Hi everyone!
I’m Ilia, a BIM Manager currently working in the semiconductor industry in Germany.
My background is in architecture/engineering and data-driven BIM workflows, and lately I've been diving into Python tools for extracting and processing IFC data more efficiently. I'm also experimenting with terminal-based interfaces and lightweight automation to make BIM data more accessible — especially for quick QA tasks or exports.
Looking forward to learning from this community and sharing some of the things I’m building (and breaking 😅) along the way.
hi i am a dissaffected revit user exploring alternatives......all very new...finding online tutorials difficult as the menus dont match my version.
hoping to find some way to engage in a more methodical way
Hello everyone,
My name is Robert and I’m an engineer in Italy. I was introduced to Bonsai a while ago, and through videos and this forum, I’ve started to learn more about the software.
I'm amazed by what the software is already capable of and the potential I see in it. The philosophy behind this project is truly inspiring, and I'm excited about the opportunity to become part of this community.
Although my programming skills are still very basic, I’d love to contribute by reporting any issues I come across while using Bonsai. I believe that every little bit can help improve the software, and I’m eager to assist however I can.
Finally, I’d like to thank everyone who has supported and contributed to Bonsai so far. Your hard work and dedication are truly inspiring.
Looking forward to being part of this amazing project!
Best regards,
balrobs
Hi @Massimo, thanks for your welcome.
I am a structural engineer and have contributed in the past to improving the Rebar add-on for FreeCAD. Unfortunately, its development has stalled somewhat recently. As a result, we are still dependent on commercial products in our office for creating reinforcement drawings.
Thanks for the Telegram invite. I’ll keep it in mind and might join later if needed.
I do have one question already: What’s the usual procedure if you think you’ve found a bug? Should it be reported directly on GitHub, or is it better to discuss it here in the forum first?
Have a nice day!
@balrobs nice, i have a backroud in structural engineering too :-) Good also you have contributed to Freecad in the past, maybe we can resurrect the project and make it useful for Freecad and Bonsai.
If you find a bug, i guess the best procedure is to open directly the issue on GitHub...maybe search before if there is already a solution in the forum or on GitHub.
Cheers, Massimo

Hello,
I'm Hippolyte, an engineer / Machin Learning developer, and maker (new to 3D), from France. I would like to improve my skills on FreeCAD, and work on it afterthat. In particular, for light housing / woodworking specific features. Please feel free to contact if you think that you have some "good start tips" for me, or if you think I can help on some aspects of your work. (I am free to travel for the moment)
Looking forward to meeting you :)
Hello everyone, I'm a road designer. I'm not a programmer, but I'm a quick learner. I'll be working on developing intuitive software for designing roads and road infrastructure, drainage, and generating finished projects in a simple and, above all, fast way.
Hey everyone,
I am a boilermaker by trade, now a construction manager by circumstance (or at least that is what I have been telling myself for the past 7 years). I have taught myself to be an above average draughtsman, going so far as to get a drafting table/tools to learn from the ground-up manually, as well as a decent 3D modeler over the past 5 years or so. Somehow, despite being the only non-engineer in my office, I have become the go-to "Excel Guy".
I have been using IfcOpenShell Python and BlenderBIM/Bonsai off and on for the last two years, largely to parse through and reorganize horribly optimized models. Though my role is not insignificant, I don't have the sway to influence the multinational engineering firms I work with to improve their export "hygiene"(imagine 30,000 IfcBuildingElementProxy's as a structural model). I have been a silent observer and admirer thus far, but the time has come where I finally need to start asking some [potentially stupid] questions.
I also have a hobbyist background in timelapse, photogrammetry, and editing. My time spend with Bonsai has convinced me to use Open Source wherever possible and I would like to start contributing.
Hello osarch.org community,
My name is Hasan from Turkiye, and I'm a professional with an academic background, specializing in HBIM (Heritage Building Information Modeling). Throughout my career, I've consistently valued the philosophy of open source and collaborative work. In my projects, I actively use commercial software like AutoCAD, Revit, and ArchiCAD, alongside powerful open-source tools such as Blender and FreeCAD. I've also had extensive experience over many years working with photogrammetry techniques and point cloud data, and I'm keen to share my insights in these areas. I always strive to explore new methods and test innovative approaches. I'm here at osarch.org to share my experiences, learn from others, and contribute to the collective development of open-source architectural tools.
Looking forward to interacting with you all soon. https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=vAgOdScAAAAJ&hl=tr https://asirproje.com.tr/
Hey there,
I am Bjorn from the Netherlands. While in the summer break before graduating my Computing Science and Mathematics degrees next year, I will work for the coming month at the engineering firm 3BM, focussed on incorporating pile plans into Bonsai for Blender. I created a standalone tool for selecting pile plans a few years ago, but the hope is now to incorporate parts of this into the open-source Bonsai platform.
I am excited to interact with you all.
Hello,
My name is Isaiah Martin and I am a Structural EIT from the United States. I am also a BIM manager at my firm and am very involved with software development in C#, Python, and Javascript. I am currently working on an open source engineering calculation software called Calcpad, and would love to get involved with IFC development on the structural side to see how BIM and structural engineering can be integrated into an open source unified database.
Hi everyone, I am Davi from Brazil.
First of all, thank you very much! The work of many of you here, with excellent classes, sharing your processes, ideas, conversations, etc, is what has enabled me to learn so much over the past few months. So, my sincere thanks to all of you!
I come from revit, with a bit of Python. Over the past 15 years, my work has focused mainly on BIM modeling and documentation for architectural projects, as well as family creation for quite some time.
I have many questions and will need a lot of help. I also want to share what I've been working on. So, that is great!
Hi everyone, my name is David from Germany.
I worked with IfcOpenShell for some time as a research associate to convert IFC models to BEPS and HVAC simulation models (Modelica). I'm currently making the transition into Bonsai as an interface for multiple IFC workflows and happy to discuss and learn how you guys get the most out of this awesome open source project.
Hey everyone,
I'm from Germany, work as an architectural draftsman and been an enthusiastic user of blender for years now. I always wondered if I can use it as an CAD alternative since the beginning and with you guys it seems more likely than ever! Im also about to start my own business for building documentations, exposé plans and Renderings. If all goes well, blender and bonsai will be my all in one solution :)
I'm having experience with Nemetschek Allplan, Vectorworks as well as with AutoCAD and Bricscad, always focused on BIM-based workflows with 3D-Modeling in mind. Happy to learn, and maybe even help out wherever I can.
Hi everyone!
First of all thank you very much for the effort put in this project.
I am currently based in The Netherlands and from an Architecture background with some basic knowledge of C# and Python. I am really interested in how open source technology can have a positive impact in the AEC industry and somehow unchain architects from the Autodesk vendor lock-in.
My name is Pujiadi, and I’m excited to join this inspiring community of open-source enthusiasts in architecture. I have a background in architecture, and I’m particularly interested in learning more about BIM workflows, sustainable design, and how open-source tools can be integrated into real projects.
I joined OSArch because I believe collaboration and knowledge sharing are powerful ways to improve how we design and build. I’m eager to learn, share ideas, and hopefully contribute to projects in the future.
Looking forward to connecting with all of you and growing together!
Hello, my name is King and I'm a construction professional manager. I do residential building and renovations and I'm familiar with Revit and Archicad but i think as my first degree is in art i think Blender has a greater chance of producing the types of renderings that I would like to present. I have many questions for this group. My first one is where I could learn to use python from scratch specifically as it relates to Blender and graphics applications. The last computer that I used code with was a Trash (TRS) 80 back around 1981 so a helpful class would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
My name is Neil, and I'm an architect in the Isle of Wight, UK . I was a Revit/ AutoCAD/ SketchUp user at work in previous employment, but now I'm self employed/ freelance again, I'm looking for FOSS workflows that can be implemented in my own practice environment, and in my personal work. I'm currently exploring the BIM workbench in FreeCAD, and have just started working out how to use Blender Bonsai with GitHub and Bonsai MCP for AI driven automation. Ideally, I'd like to develop an 'end to end' workflow withing Blender/ Bonsai, starting with massing/concept 'sketches', developing construction methods and details, preferably including PassivHaus calculations and optimisation in the process, then being able to deliver a complete construction package at the end of the process if that's possible. @Moult - thanks for all your hard work making Blender BIM/ Bonsai happen - Open source and collaboration is the way forward....
Hi, I'm Léo,
I'm an architect and lecturer at a technical university in Switzerland. A big part of my professional activity involves scanning heritage buildings and drawing precise 2D plans.
I'm looking for ways to make my workflow as FOSS as possible. I'm currently a VectorWorks user.
Hi all,
My name is Julian and I'm and engineer living in the Forest of Dean, UK. I have experience with AutoCAD and other CAD packages but none specifically for architecture until now. I've spent some time with FreeCAD BIM and found it hard work, I'm moving along the learning curve far quicker with Bonsai. Thank you @Moult for making Bonsai and @Ace for your great tutorials.
I live in stone walled cottage which I've long wanted to model in 3D but right now I'm working on another local stone cottage that is undergoing total refurbishment, we are gutting it to a bare shell.
